Michigan head coach Dusty May has guided the Wolverines to the 2026 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four, marking a return to the national semifinals three years after a similar Cinderella run with Florida Atlantic University. May's Michigan team secured its spot by defeating UConn in the Elite Eight round of the tournament.

In 2023, May was the head coach at FAU, leading the Owls on an unexpected journey to the Final Four as a No. 9 seed. His success there made him a highly sought-after coaching candidate, culminating in his hiring by the University of Michigan in March 2024 to lead their basketball program.

"It's a surreal feeling, a full-circle moment," May was quoted as saying after the victory, referencing the parallel paths. Michigan will face Duke in one national semifinal, with the winner advancing to the championship game.
