The next phase of the West Midlands Metro extension from Dudley to Brierley Hill has commenced in Dudley town centre. The project, which will extend the light rail network from Dudley to the Merry Hill Shopping Centre and Brierley Hill, is a key part of regional transport plans.
Work on the town centre section involves utility diversions and preparatory ground works along Castle Hill and Birmingham Street. The overall extension is expected to be completed by 2024, according to the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
The route will include new stops at Dudley town centre, Dudley Port, and Merry Hill, among others. The project aims to improve connectivity and support economic regeneration in the Black Country.
