In July 2025, Detective Constable Tom Ryan discovered a diary entry mentioning an old cattle trailer, which provided the crucial breakthrough in the case of Richard Dyson, who disappeared in November 2019. The entry led police to a location where Dyson's remains were found, and subsequently to an arrest.

Police have not released the identity of the person arrested, but they have confirmed that charges have been filed in connection with Dyson's murder. The case highlights the importance of revisiting evidence and the role of seemingly minor details in solving cold cases.
Detective Constable Ryan stated, "This diary entry was the key that unlocked the entire investigation. It just goes to show that you never know what piece of evidence will break a case open."
