Derry City have parted ways with manager Tiernan Lynch, the club confirmed on Thursday. The decision comes after a disappointing start to the 2026 season, with the Candystripes currently sitting sixth in the League of Ireland Premier Division.
Lynch, who took charge in December 2024, led the club to a third-place finish in his first season and guided them to the FAI Cup final, where they lost to Drogheda United. However, a run of just one win in eight league matches this season increased pressure on the Northern Irishman.
The club's board said in a statement: "We would like to thank Tiernan for his hard work and dedication during his time at the club. He has been a true professional and we wish him every success in the future."
Derry City have not yet announced a replacement, but assistant manager Paul Hegarty is expected to take charge on an interim basis for Saturday's match against Bohemians.
