A 16-year-old girl in Delhi, Sakshi, has returned to teach at the same parking lot classroom where she once studied, after passing her Class 10 board exams. The classroom, run by the NGO 'Teach for India' under a flyover in the Sarojini Nagar area, provides free education to children from low-income families.
Sakshi's mother works as a housemaid, and her father is a driver. Despite financial challenges, Sakshi scored 72% in her Class 10 exams, according to reports from The Better India and other local media. She now teaches English and mathematics to younger students at the same makeshift school.
The initiative, started in 2018 by Teach for India fellow Shalini, has helped over 100 children. Sakshi's story has been widely shared as an example of determination and giving back to the community.
