NEW DELHI: Light rainfall and cloudy skies brought much-needed relief to residents across parts of Delhi-NCR on Saturday morning, May 23, 2026, after days of intense heatwave conditions. Several areas of the national capital received light showers, while neighboring regions like Noida and Gurugram also experienced overcast conditions and drizzle, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD reported that the maximum temperature in Delhi on Saturday was expected to settle around 38 degrees Celsius, a drop from the 44-45 degrees Celsius recorded earlier in the week. The minimum temperature was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels rising due to the moisture.
The weather change was attributed to a western disturbance affecting the region, which brought cloud cover and light precipitation. The IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain or thundershowers for the next two days, offering continued respite from the heat.
Residents welcomed the change, with many taking to social media to share videos of the rain. However, the IMD advised that the relief may be temporary, as heatwave conditions could return after the weekend. No major disruptions were reported due to the weather.
