David Trone is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Maryland's 6th Congressional District. He was first elected in 2018 and has been serving since January 3, 2019. His district covers parts of Montgomery and Frederick counties, as well as all of Garrett and Allegany counties.
Trone is the co-founder of Total Wine & More, a national liquor retailer. He has focused his congressional work on issues such as mental health, addiction treatment, and criminal justice reform. He serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Budget Committee.
In the 2024 election cycle, Trone ran for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Senator Ben Cardin but lost the Democratic primary to Angela Alsobrooks. He continues to serve in the House until the end of his term in January 2027.
