Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault said Friday that forward Jalen Williams, who has been sidelined with a hip injury, could potentially return for the NBA Finals if the team advances that far. The Thunder currently lead the Western Conference finals 3-2 against the Dallas Mavericks, with Game 6 scheduled for Saturday in Dallas.
Williams, 24, has missed the last three games of the series after sustaining a right hip strain in Game 2. He averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists during the regular season and has been a key contributor in the playoffs.
Daigneault noted that Williams is making progress in his recovery but stopped short of providing a specific timeline. The Thunder are aiming to reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 2012.
