French aerospace manufacturer Daher has announced plans to relocate the production of certain Airbus parts to Morocco, according to industry sources. The move is intended to free up capacity at its French plants for defense contracts and the development of the successor to the Airbus A320.
Daher, which is a key supplier to Airbus, will shift manufacturing of specific components to its existing facility in Casablanca, Morocco. The company already has a significant presence in Morocco, where it produces parts for various aircraft programs.
The decision comes as Airbus prepares for the next generation of single-aisle aircraft, which is expected to enter service in the mid-2030s. Daher is also involved in the production of components for military aircraft, including the A400M and the Eurofighter Typhoon, and needs to expand its capacity to meet growing defense orders.
The relocation is expected to affect a number of jobs in France, though Daher has not disclosed specific figures. The company has said it will offer voluntary transfers or early retirement to affected employees.
This strategic move highlights the increasing importance of Morocco as a manufacturing hub for the European aerospace industry, with several other suppliers also expanding their operations in the country.
