A man in his 20s died after a collision involving a truck and a bicycle at a central Dublin junction on Wednesday afternoon.

A man in his 20s has died following a collision with a truck in Dublin city centre on Wednesday, 2 April 2026. Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene at the junction of Middle Abbey Street and O'Connell Street shortly before 1 p.m.

The male cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to the City Morgue at Whitehall. The driver of the truck, a man in his 40s, was not physically injured.

Gardaí have closed the area for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. The junction of Middle Abbey Street and O'Connell Street, a major thoroughfare, remains closed to traffic as the investigation continues.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward. They are particularly asking any road users with camera footage from the area at the time to make it available to investigators.
