The Chicago Cubs announced on April 28, 2026, that they have activated right-handed pitcher Phil Maton from the 15-day injured list. Maton had been sidelined since April 13 due to a right groin strain.
Maton, 33, signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Cubs in January 2026. In three appearances before the injury, he posted a 3.00 ERA with three strikeouts over three innings.
To make room on the active roster, the Cubs optioned left-handed pitcher Luke Little to Triple-A Iowa. Maton is expected to be available for tonight's game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field.
