A couple suspected of leading a major drug trafficking network in the Pyrenees region has been extradited from Morocco to France. The individuals, a 54-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman, were arrested by Moroccan authorities in late February 2026 while on vacation in Marrakech.

French judicial sources indicate the couple is believed to have directed a significant cocaine and cannabis resin trafficking operation from Spain into France via the Pyrenees mountains. The network is alleged to have used sophisticated methods, including encrypted communication and logistical cells, to transport the drugs.

The extradition was confirmed by the French National Jurisdiction for the Fight against Organized Crime (JUNALCO). The suspects are now in custody in Paris, where an investigating magistrate has opened a probe into charges related to organized drug trafficking and criminal conspiracy.

This operation is part of broader Franco-Spanish efforts to dismantle cross-border drug smuggling routes in the Pyrenees, a region that has seen increased trafficking activity in recent years.
