Isaac Mukendi, the Mayor of Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, has been invited to participate in the upcoming DiaspoSummit Africa 2026. The event is scheduled to take place in Casablanca, Morocco, from April 28 to 30, 2026.
DiaspoSummit Africa is a major annual forum that connects African diaspora communities with leaders from the continent to discuss investment, development, and partnership opportunities. The 2026 edition will focus on themes of innovation, sustainable cities, and local governance.
Mayor Mukendi's role at the summit will be to present the perspectives and challenges of local governance in the DRC. His participation is seen as an opportunity to highlight the role of cities in national development and to attract diaspora engagement and investment for urban projects in Lubumbashi.
The invitation underscores a growing recognition of the importance of sub-national actors in Africa's development agenda. The summit is organized by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) in partnership with other institutional bodies.
