Chery has officially launched the Tiggo 9 SUV in Malaysia at a special event held at the iconic Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad in Kuala Lumpur. The vehicle is available in two variants: the 2.0T AWD and the 2.0T AWD Premium, with prices starting from RM166,800 and RM176,800 respectively (on-the-road without insurance).
The Tiggo 9 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 256 PS (252 hp) and 390 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard across the range. The SUV is based on Chery's T2X platform and features a 7-seat layout.
Standard equipment includes a 12.3-inch dual-screen infotainment system, 360-degree camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. The Premium variant adds a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with ventilation, and a 14-speaker Sony sound system.
The launch event at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad, a historic landmark, marked a significant milestone for Chery in Malaysia. The Tiggo 9 competes in the mid-size SUV segment against models like the Proton X90 and Mazda CX-8.
