Arusha, Tanzania — The opposition party Chadema has announced the expulsion of its member, Charles Odero, according to a statement released on April 24, 2026. The party cited unspecified violations of its constitution and code of conduct as the reason for the decision.
Odero, however, told reporters that he was unaware of the expulsion until he saw the letter circulating online. He stated that he would contact his lawyer to challenge the decision and potentially report the matter to relevant authorities.
Chadema, one of Tanzania's main opposition parties, has faced internal divisions in recent months. The party's leadership has not provided further details on Odero's alleged infractions, and attempts to reach party officials for comment were unsuccessful.
