CBS News is shutting down its radio division, a century-old operation that was once home to legendary broadcaster Edward R. Murrow. The network's editor in chief, Bari Weiss, announced the decision on Friday, March 18, 2026, as part of a round of layoffs affecting the news division.

The closure ends a storied broadcast history that included Murrow's iconic World War II dispatches from London. The division had recently produced hourly newscasts and the "CBS News on the Hour" podcast. The layoffs are part of a broader restructuring under CBS News and Stations President Wendy McMahon and CBS News Co-Presidents Neeraj Khemlani and Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews.

More than 60 employees are affected by the cuts, which represent roughly 6% of the CBS News staff. Affected personnel include anchors, producers, and reporters. The network stated the move was a difficult business decision aimed at streamlining operations.
