AA Gallery in Casablanca is hosting a collective exhibition titled 'Regards sur l'École de Casablanca,' dedicated to one of the major movements in modern Moroccan art from 1960 to 1987. The exhibition brings together works from about twenty artists, offering a comprehensive look at this influential period.
The Casablanca School, known for its fusion of traditional Moroccan aesthetics with modernist techniques, emerged in the 1960s. Key figures include artists like Farid Belkahia, Mohamed Melehi, and Mohammed Chabâa, who sought to redefine Moroccan art by integrating local motifs and materials.
According to the gallery's statement, the exhibition aims to provide a fresh perspective on the movement's legacy, highlighting its impact on contemporary art in Morocco and beyond. The show includes paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media works, many of which have been loaned from private collections.
Visitors can explore the exhibition until June 30, 2026, at AA Gallery's space in the Casablanca city center. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 AM to 7 PM.
