Casablanca has been identified as one of nine global centers designated by CFM International for complete overhauls of LEAP engines, according to a report published in June by Emerton and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The report highlights the strategic importance of these facilities in supporting the growing fleets of Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which are powered by LEAP engines.
The selection of Casablanca underscores Morocco's role in the aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector. The report notes that the facility is equipped to handle the increasing demand for LEAP engine services as airlines expand their next-generation narrowbody fleets. CFM International, a joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran, has been expanding its MRO network to ensure timely and efficient engine support.
Other centers listed in the report include facilities in the United States, Europe, and Asia, reflecting a global distribution to serve major airline hubs. The IATA-Emerton analysis emphasizes that the Casablanca center benefits from its geographic location, skilled workforce, and existing aerospace infrastructure.
The report comes as the aviation industry continues to recover from the pandemic, with LEAP engine deliveries and service demand rising. CFM International has stated that it is committed to maintaining high standards of quality and turnaround times across its authorized MRO network.
