The city of Carcassonne has inaugurated a tribute to Jean Bringer, a local hero of the French Resistance during World War II, at Place Davilla. The ceremony, held on March 19, 2026, was attended by local officials and members of Bringer's family.

Jean Bringer, born in Carcassonne in 1920, was a key figure in the local Resistance network. He was arrested by the Gestapo in 1944 and deported to the Neuengamme concentration camp, where he died in March 1945.

The tribute at Place Davilla includes a commemorative plaque detailing his actions. Mayor GΓ©rard Larrat stated the installation ensures the city's collective memory of the Resistance and the sacrifices made for freedom endures for future generations.
