Vancouver Canucks forward Arshdeep Bains scored just 29 seconds into his NHL debut on Tuesday, April 1, 2026, against the Colorado Avalanche at Rogers Arena. The 24-year-old Surrey, BC native capitalized on a rebound to give the Canucks an early 1-0 lead in the eventual 4-2 victory.

Bains, who was called up from the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks earlier in the day, became the first Canucks player to score on his first NHL shift since Jannik Hansen in 2007. His goal set a franchise record for the fastest goal by a player in his NHL debut with the team.

The Avalanche tied the game later in the first period, but the Canucks secured the win with goals from Elias Pettersson, Brock Boeser, and an empty-netter from Conor Garland. Goaltender Arturs Silovs made 30 saves for Vancouver.

The victory improved the Canucks' record as they continue their push for the playoffs. Bains's memorable debut provided an immediate spark for the team in front of the home crowd.
