Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis said the team's surprising playoff run this spring has only increased their desire for more success. 'It makes you hungrier,' St-Louis told reporters after the Canadiens were eliminated from the playoffs on May 28, 2026.
The Canadiens, who finished the regular season with a 38-32-12 record, advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs before losing to the Florida Panthers in six games. St-Louis emphasized that the experience was valuable for a young team.
'We saw what it takes to win in this league,' St-Louis said. 'The guys now know the level of commitment needed. We're not satisfied with just making the playoffs.'
The Canadiens' playoff run included a first-round upset of the Boston Bruins, who had finished with the best record in the Eastern Conference. St-Louis noted that the team's resilience and growth were key takeaways from the postseason.
'We have a core that believes in each other,' St-Louis added. 'This run showed us that we can compete with the best. Now we have to build on that.'
