Cameroon international striker Naomie Eto has dismissed criticism of the Indomitable Lionesses as the team prepares for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to be held in Morocco from July 3 to 26, 2026.
In a statement reported by local media, Eto said the team is focused on their preparations and confident in their abilities. "We are not bothered by those who doubt us," she said. "We know what we are capable of, and we will show it on the pitch."
The Lionesses have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Mali, and Zambia. Cameroon will open their campaign against Mali on July 4 in Rabat.
Eto, who plays for French club Montpellier HSC, has been in good form this season, scoring 12 goals in 20 league appearances. She is expected to be a key player for Cameroon in the tournament.
The team has been training in YaoundΓ© since late June, with head coach Jean-Baptiste Bisseck emphasizing tactical discipline and team cohesion. Cameroon last won the WAFCON in 2014 and reached the final in 2016.
