Cameroon's U17 national team coach, Alioum Saidou, has expressed confidence ahead of their opening match in the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) U17 tournament. The competition is scheduled to take place in Morocco from May 10 to May 30, 2026.
Speaking to the press, Saidou emphasized the team's preparation and readiness. 'We have worked hard and we are ready to compete. The players are motivated and we believe in our abilities,' he said.
Cameroon is drawn in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Tanzania, and Zambia. Their first match is against Tanzania on May 13, 2026. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
The tournament serves as a qualifier for the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will be held in Qatar later this year. Cameroon aims to secure a spot in the global competition.
