Calgary police have charged a volunteer coach at a high school in the city with sexual assault after a minor alleged she had been sexually assaulted by the man for nearly two years, according to a news release on May 19, 2026.
Investigators allege the suspect met the victim when she was 15 and the abuse continued until she was 17. The accused, whose name has not been released to protect the victim's identity, was arrested on May 18 and faces one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual exploitation.
Police say the suspect was a volunteer coach at the school but did not specify the sport. The school board has been notified and is cooperating with the investigation. The accused has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on June 15, 2026.
