The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially awarded the hosting rights for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to Morocco. The decision was confirmed by CAF President Patrice Motsepe following an executive committee meeting. This move comes after the original host nation, Guinea, was stripped of its hosting rights in 2022 due to concerns over infrastructure and preparedness.

Morocco, which previously hosted the tournament in 1988 and was a candidate for the 2025, 2027, and 2030 World Cups, was selected as the replacement. The North African nation possesses extensive modern football infrastructure, having recently hosted the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup and being a joint bidder for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The tournament is scheduled for mid-2025. This will be the second time Morocco hosts the continental championship. The decision consolidates a busy period for Moroccan football, following its historic run to the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finals.
