The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the departure of its Secretary General, Véron Mosengo-Omba. The announcement was made by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe during a press conference in Cairo, Egypt, on March 29, 2026.

President Motsepe stated that Mosengo-Omba's exit was a mutual decision, allowing him to pursue other opportunities. The CAF President used the occasion to announce a new reform initiative focused on refereeing and match officiating across the continent, aiming to improve standards and transparency.

Motsepe also confirmed plans for an official visit to Senegal in the coming weeks. This visit is seen as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts following the contentious decision to award the hosting rights for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to Morocco, after it was initially scheduled for Guinea and then potentially Senegal.

The leadership transition and reform plans come at a critical time for CAF as it prepares for major upcoming tournaments and seeks to address long-standing operational challenges.
