Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has stated he will respect the forthcoming decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding Senegal's appeal. The appeal concerns a dispute related to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, from which Senegal was reportedly stripped of hosting rights.
According to verified reports, the dispute stems from organizational and readiness issues cited by CAF, which led to the decision to relocate the tournament's final match. Senegal subsequently filed an appeal with CAS to challenge this sanction.
In a recent statement, Motsepe emphasized the importance of due process, stating, "We will respect the decision of CAS." He reiterated CAF's commitment to the rules and regulations governing African football while awaiting the court's binding ruling.
The CAS proceedings are ongoing, and a final decision is expected later in 2026. The outcome will determine the official host for the climax of the 2025 AFCON tournament, which is scheduled to be held in Morocco.
