The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially denied a widely circulated report claiming it stripped Senegal of its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title. In a statement, CAF labeled the information as "false" and clarified that no such decision was made by its Appeal Board or any other judicial body.
The false report had alleged that CAF's Appeal Commission had taken the title from Senegal, the 2025 champion, and awarded it to Morocco, the tournament host. This claim prompted reactions from Senegalese political figures, including the Alliance of the Forces of Progress (AFP) party, which expressed indignation.
CAF has urged the public and media to rely only on official communications from the organization for accurate information regarding its competitions and decisions. The 2025 AFCON tournament is scheduled to be held in Morocco.
