The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially awarded Morocco the hosting rights for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The decision was announced by CAF President Patrice Motsepe following an executive committee meeting.
Morocco was the sole bidder for the tournament after original hosts Guinea were stripped of the rights in 2022 due to infrastructure delays. This will be the second time Morocco hosts the continental championship, having previously staged the event in 1988.
The tournament is scheduled for June and July 2025, aligning with the international football calendar. CAF officials have expressed confidence in Morocco's proven infrastructure and organizational capabilities, having recently hosted several major CAF events.
