Emergency services in Tenerife rescued a group of British tourists on Tuesday after their minibus became trapped in rapidly rising floodwaters in the town of Puerto de la Cruz. The incident occurred as heavy rainfall associated with a storm system, which some local media referred to as Storm Therese, triggered flash flooding across the north of the Canary Island.

The Spanish meteorological agency, AEMET, had issued a red alert for heavy rain in the area. Videos shared on social media showed the minibus partially submerged on a flooded street as emergency personnel worked to evacuate the passengers to safety. All occupants were successfully rescued and no serious injuries were reported.

Local authorities have advised residents and visitors to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay away from riverbeds and areas prone to flooding. The intense rainfall has caused significant disruption, including road closures and damage to infrastructure in several municipalities.
