New Zealand Rugby has secured the services of teenage talent Braxton Sorensen-McGee through to the end of 2027. The 19-year-old has recommitted to the national body, with her primary focus remaining on the Black Ferns Sevens program.
The new contract allows Sorensen-McGee to pursue opportunities in both the sevens and fifteen-a-side formats of the game. This dual-path agreement is designed to develop her versatility as she continues her rise in the sport.
Sorensen-McGee, a product of the Hamilton Girls' High School system, is considered one of the country's most promising young players. Her re-signing is a boost for New Zealand Rugby's efforts to retain top emerging talent.
The deal positions her to be part of the Black Ferns Sevens squad building towards major tournaments in the coming years, including the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Australia.
