Bpifrance, the French public investment bank, is providing financial support to the construction group Eiffage for the development of hospital infrastructure in Guinea, according to a statement from the company. The project involves the construction of three regional hospitals in the cities of Kankan, N'Zérékoré, and Labé, aimed at strengthening the country's healthcare system.
The financing, which includes a mix of loans and guarantees, is part of a broader effort to improve medical access in underserved regions of Guinea. Eiffage, which has a significant presence in Africa, will oversee the design, construction, and equipment of the facilities. The hospitals are expected to have a combined capacity of several hundred beds and will offer services including emergency care, surgery, and maternal health.
This initiative aligns with Guinea's national health development plan and is supported by the French government's commitment to infrastructure projects in Francophone Africa. The exact financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but Bpifrance typically provides such support through its export credit and development finance arms.
The project is scheduled to begin construction in late 2026, with completion expected within three years. It is anticipated to create local jobs during the construction phase and improve healthcare outcomes for millions of Guineans once operational.
