Mary Ann Hester, the longtime City Clerk for Bowdon, Georgia, has announced her retirement, effective April 1, 2026. Hester has served the city for over 30 years, managing official records, elections, and municipal meetings.
According to city officials, Hester's tenure has been marked by significant dedication and institutional knowledge. The Bowdon City Council formally accepted her letter of resignation during a recent meeting, initiating the search for her successor.
"Mary Ann has been an invaluable asset to our city government," said Bowdon Mayor Mandy Hanson in a statement. "Her experience and commitment to the citizens of Bowdon will be greatly missed." The city plans to honor Hester's service with a public reception in the coming weeks.
