Former Morocco international Nourdin Boukhari has expressed confidence that the Atlas Lions can cause an upset against the Netherlands in their FIFA World Cup round-of-16 clash. Speaking to 360, Boukhari highlighted Morocco's tactical discipline and counter-attacking speed as key factors that could trouble the Oranje.
"Morocco can really hurt the Netherlands," Boukhari said. "They have a solid defense and quick transitions. If they stay compact and take their chances, they can win." The match is scheduled for later this week at a venue yet to be confirmed.
Boukhari, who earned 17 caps for Morocco between 2002 and 2005, also praised the team's spirit under coach Walid Regragui. He noted that the squad's blend of experienced players and young talents gives them an edge in high-pressure games.
The Netherlands advanced as group winners, while Morocco finished second in their group. Both teams have shown strong form, but Boukhari believes Morocco's underdog status could work in their favor.
