Bo Bichette made an emotional return to Toronto on Tuesday, facing the Blue Jays for the first time since being traded to the New York Yankees in December 2025. The shortstop, who spent six seasons with Toronto, received a standing ovation from fans at Rogers Centre before his first at-bat.
"I'm grateful for my time here," Bichette said in a postgame interview. "This city and this organization mean a lot to me." He went 1-for-4 with a single in the Yankees' 5-3 loss to the Blue Jays.
Bichette, 28, was a two-time All-Star with Toronto, batting .290 with 148 home runs from 2019 to 2025. The trade, which sent him to New York for prospects, was finalized on December 15, 2025.
"It was special to be back," Bichette added. "The fans have always been great to me." The Blue Jays honored him with a video tribute during the game.
