The Toronto Blue Jays have placed outfielder Daulton Varsho on the 10-day injured list due to a right shoulder strain, the team announced June 12, 2026. Varsho, 29, sustained the injury during a game against the Milwaukee Brewers on June 11. He is hitting .215 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs in 62 games this season.
In corresponding moves, catcher Alejandro Kirk has been activated from the 10-day IL after recovering from a left elbow contusion. Kirk, 27, was hitting .253 with 4 home runs and 22 RBIs in 48 games before the injury. To make room on the 40-man roster, catcher Tyler Heineman was designated for assignment. Heineman, 34, had appeared in 12 games for Toronto, batting .182 with 1 home run and 3 RBIs.
The Blue Jays (34-32) are currently third in the American League East, 4.5 games behind the first-place New York Yankees. Varsho's absence is a blow to the outfield defense, as he is a Gold Glove finalist in 2024. Manager John Schneider said Varsho will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
