The Bemidji baseball team continued their dominant week with a convincing sweep of Detroit Lakes. The Lumberjacks won both games of the doubleheader, improving their record to 12-3 on the season.
In the first game, Bemidji scored five runs in the third inning to take control, winning 7-2. Pitcher Jake Smith struck out eight batters over six innings to earn the win.
The second game was more of the same, as Bemidji jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, winning 9-1. The Lumberjacks' offense was led by shortstop Alex Johnson, who had three hits and four RBIs in the doubleheader.
Bemidji coach Mike Johnson praised his team's focus and execution. 'We played well in all phases of the game today,' he said. 'Our pitching was sharp, our defense made plays, and we got timely hits.'
The sweep extends Bemidji's winning streak to five games. They will look to keep it going when they face Moorhead on Friday.
