Rachida Aït-Alouha, a member of the Parliament of Wallonia, announced her departure from the Workers' Party of Belgium (PTB) on April 24, 2026. The decision, which she described as fully assumed, was motivated by what she called the party's ambiguity towards Morocco.
In a statement, Aït-Alouha, who is of Moroccan origin, expressed disappointment with the PTB's position on the Western Sahara issue, which she said contradicted her own views. She did not specify her future political plans but indicated she would continue her work as an independent.
The PTB has not officially commented on her departure. Aït-Alouha was elected in 2024 and served on committees related to social affairs and international relations.
