According to reports from BBC News, the riots were linked to tensions over the Northern Ireland Protocol and ongoing disputes about post-Brexit trade arrangements. Loyalist paramilitary groups, such as the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) and the Ulster Defence Association (UDA), have been accused of orchestrating some of the violence.
Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officials stated that they are investigating the involvement of paramilitary elements. The UK government has condemned the violence and called for calm, while Irish political leaders have urged dialogue to address underlying grievances.
