British Columbia officials confirmed on Thursday that structures have been destroyed or impacted by the Fiftynine Creek wildfire, burning near the Village of Clinton. Emergency Management Minister Bowinn Ma stated, 'I'd say we have at least a dozen properties where structures have been fully destroyed,' during a press conference on July 23, 2026.
The wildfire, which started on July 18, has grown to an estimated 2,500 hectares as of July 23, according to the BC Wildfire Service. Evacuation orders remain in effect for the Clinton area, with approximately 1,200 residents displaced. No injuries have been reported.
Firefighters are battling the blaze with support from air tankers and helicopters, but dry conditions and gusty winds continue to challenge containment efforts. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
