Bayern Munich has officially secured its place in the group stage of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League. The German club qualified through the European Performance Spots, a new format introduced for the upcoming expanded competition.

The Bavarian side joins Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain as the first three clubs to confirm their participation in next season's tournament. Qualification was based on the collective performance of German clubs in UEFA competitions this season, with Germany earning one of the two additional 'European Performance Spot' berths.

The 2026/27 season will be the first under a new 36-team 'Swiss model' league phase, replacing the traditional group stage. The draw for the league phase is scheduled for late August 2026.

On the pitch, Bayern Munich recently defeated 1. FC Heidenheim 3-2 in a Bundesliga match, with goals from Harry Kane and Serge Gnabry helping to secure the victory.
