BALANGA CITY — The Provincial Government of Bataan has rolled out rice assistance for 30,257 beneficiaries in the province under the Sagip Saka Program, funded through a P118-million allocation from the expanded Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).
The assistance, which aims to support local farmers and ensure food security, was distributed in coordination with the Department of Agriculture. Each beneficiary received a specific amount of rice, though exact per-beneficiary figures were not immediately available from official sources.
Governor Joet Garcia emphasized the program's role in stabilizing rice supply and providing direct aid to agricultural workers. The Sagip Saka Program is a national initiative that links farmers directly to institutional buyers, reducing post-harvest losses and improving income.
This distribution is part of a broader effort by the Bataan provincial government to utilize LGSF funds for agricultural support, following similar initiatives in other provinces. The program is expected to benefit rice farmers and their families across the province's municipalities.
