Bank Al-Maghrib, the central bank of Morocco, has announced the issuance of a commemorative silver coin to celebrate the Throne Day, which marks the anniversary of King Mohammed VI's accession to the throne. The coin, made of 999 fine silver, has a face value of 250 dirhams and a limited mintage of 5,000 pieces.
The coin features the portrait of King Mohammed VI on the obverse side, along with the inscription 'Mohammed VI' and the year of issue. The reverse side depicts the royal crown and the date of the Throne Day celebration, July 30, 2026. The coin is intended for collectors and is available for purchase at Bank Al-Maghrib branches and authorized dealers.
This issuance is part of a tradition by Bank Al-Maghrib to commemorate national events and milestones. Throne Day, celebrated annually on July 30, commemorates the accession of King Mohammed VI to the throne in 1999 following the death of his father, King Hassan II.
