Lille OSC midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi has confirmed his decision to represent the French national team, putting an end to months of speculation about a potential switch to Morocco. The 18-year-old, who was born in France to Moroccan parents, had been eligible for both nations.
In a statement released on May 24, 2026, Bouaddi said: 'It's a relief to have made my choice. I feel French and I want to give everything for this jersey.' The player had been courted by both the French Football Federation (FFF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) in recent months.
Bouaddi made his professional debut for Lille in 2023 and has since become a regular in the first team, making 45 appearances in Ligue 1. His performances attracted attention from national team selectors, with France coach Didier Deschamps reportedly monitoring his progress.
