Avi Golan, an Israeli national known as the 'Man of a Thousand Faces' for his elaborate identity frauds, was arrested in Marrakech, Morocco, on April 28, 2026. The arrest was carried out by Moroccan police in coordination with Interpol, following an international warrant issued by Israel.
Golan is accused of defrauding victims across multiple countries, including Israel, France, and the United States, by assuming false identities and promising fake business deals. He is also linked to a 2019 case where he posed as a Mossad agent to extort money from a French businessman.
Moroccan authorities confirmed that Golan was detained at a hotel in the Gueliz district of Marrakech. He is currently in custody awaiting extradition proceedings. Israeli officials have requested his return to face charges of fraud, forgery, and impersonation.
The arrest marks a significant step in international efforts to combat cross-border financial crimes. Interpol had listed Golan as a wanted person since 2024.
