The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) has established a permanent country office in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to an announcement made on August 7, 2026. The office aims to provide a platform at the national level to help translate development priorities into concrete projects and mobilize investment.
The agreement was signed in Kinshasa by AUDA-NEPAD's Chief Executive Officer, Nardos Bekele-Thomas, and the DRC's Minister of Planning, Judith Suminwa Tuluka. The office will support the DRC in implementing its national development plan and the African Union's Agenda 2063.
This move is part of AUDA-NEPAD's broader strategy to decentralize its operations and strengthen engagement with member states. The DRC becomes one of several African countries hosting AUDA-NEPAD country offices, which facilitate technical support and resource mobilization for development projects.
The establishment of the office is expected to enhance collaboration between the DRC and the African Union, particularly in areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, and human capital development. It also aligns with the AU's commitment to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the continent.
