Spanish teenager Rafael Jodar captured his maiden ATP Tour title at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech on Sunday. The 19-year-old qualifier defeated world number eight and top seed Andrey Rublev 6-4, 7-6(5) in the final.
Jodar's victory marks a significant breakthrough, as he became the youngest champion in the tournament's history. His run to the title included wins over former top-10 player David Goffin and fourth seed Lorenzo Musetti.
Ranked world number 280 entering the tournament, Jodar is projected to rise to a new career-high inside the top 150 following his triumph. The win makes him the first Spanish champion in Marrakech since Pablo Andújar in 2012.
In the doubles final, the British pair of Lloyd Glasspool and Henry Patten defeated third seeds Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen 7-6(4), 6-4 to claim the title.
