Troops of the 65 Battalion, Nigerian Army, have dismantled a suspected illegal bunkering site in Lagos State and arrested six suspects during an intelligence-led operation aimed at curbing economic sabotage.
The operation, conducted at the Orile Gene area of Lagos, targeted a site used for the illegal refining and theft of crude oil. The Nigerian Army confirmed the arrests and the seizure of equipment used in the illegal activity.
This action is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to combat oil theft and illegal refining, which cost Nigeria billions of dollars annually in lost revenue. The suspects are in custody and will be handed over to relevant authorities for prosecution.
