Apple has announced that its new Siri AI features, part of the Apple Intelligence suite, will be delayed in the European Union and China. The company cited regulatory uncertainties as the primary reason for the postponement, particularly regarding the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in the EU.
Originally unveiled at WWDC 2024, Apple Intelligence includes enhanced Siri capabilities such as on-screen awareness, in-app actions, and deeper integration with ChatGPT. However, Apple stated that it needs more time to ensure compliance with local laws before rolling out these features in the affected regions.
In a statement, Apple said it is working with regulators to address their concerns and hopes to launch the features as soon as possible. The delay affects users in the EU and China, while other regions will receive the update as planned later this year.
