Amazon has announced that its AI assistant, Alexa+, is now available for free on all compatible Fire TV devices in the United States, regardless of whether users have an Amazon Prime subscription. The update, confirmed on August 21, 2026, brings conversational search and smart home controls to a wider audience.
Previously, Alexa+ was available as a paid add-on or included with Prime membership. Now, all Fire TV users can access the assistant without additional cost. The rollout covers all compatible Fire TV devices, including Fire TV Sticks and Fire TV Edition smart TVs.
With Alexa+, users can search for movies and shows using natural language, control smart home devices, and get personalized recommendations. The assistant leverages Amazon's large language models to understand context and follow-up questions.
Amazon has not specified whether the free tier will include all features or if some premium capabilities will remain exclusive to Prime members. The company has not yet announced availability outside the U.S.
